Hello, my name is Paula Daglas. I am the Educational Leader and Red and Yellow Group Teacher at Emmanuel Anglican Kindergarten. This is my 8th year at Emmanuel Anglican Kindergarten. I have been with Best Chance, our kindergarten cluster management, for 15 years. I have worked in Early Childhood Education in all sectors from occasional care to childcare and now in kindergarten.
I have two children, Paris who is 16 and Vayia who is 14. While we don’t live in Oakleigh, my girls go to school here and the locality is like a second home. I enjoy photography, cooking and dancing.
In regards to teaching, I have a passion for inquiry based learning, this facilitates children’s learning through play and discovery. I believe in creating inspiring learning spaces where children can engage their curiosity and enhance their love for learning. I believe children are natural researchers.
We love Paula’s passion for her Greek heritage. She has a warm and playful manner with the children.
I value art and what art teaches children. Not only does it allow children to develop their pre-literacy skills by using different art materials, it allows children to express themselves creatively.
I have a fond admiration for the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. The Reggio way of learning encourages a real sense of community. It uses natural and real materials. This approach values children’s participation in their own learning journey, it also respects children’s voice in guiding their learning through projects and discovery.
I hope the children at Emmanuel develop a sense of belonging and a love for learning. I know they will create and discover new things. I hope they make lasting friendships and above all enjoy their time here at Emmanuel.
